Seize the Moment
I just met a very long-last University friend whom I have not met for about 15 years. We updated each other on our jobs, and I told her I have 3 girls, aged 2, 6 and 8. She told me that she's still single. I simply love the way that she announced that she's still single - confident and happy. : )
Singlehood can be a curse or pain - especially if others in society start to question whether one is still single. Is it that your expectations of a prospective spouse are too sky-high? Are you too picky, in other words? Or are you too unattractive not to have any dates? Reasons that are usually negative!
I am proud that my friend is happily single. I am happily married with 3 girls.
Both of us have made our choice and are happy about it. Period.
So, why ask so much, society, to single men and women?
Whether single or married, one will always be happy in life as long as you treasure and seize the moment.
If the present moment leaves nothing to be desired, especially when you have 3 jealous girls fighting for their Mum's attention, or when one has problems coping with the exam-intensive world in Singapore, one just have to look forward to the next moment.
Even in the current moment, there are still blessings. At least my 3 girls love their Mum and so are fighting for her attention. At least my girl has her chance at education, when there are so many children in the world with no shot at education at all.
Just be contented with whatever you already have, even if it is little, and happiness will come knocking on your door. Trust me. : )
